Revision Decisions

Revising Skills
Introduction:

After much consideration, I decided that my blog on identity needed the most work and revision. It was difficult to pick just one writing assignment to revise, because my other assignments could have used it too. The task of this blog was to describe how the contents of your wallet or purse challenged or confirmed a your identity. This assignment was an experiment to me. I contemplated whether someone’s initial thoughts of my identity would be accurate according to the contents of my purse. I believe the assumptions made would be fairly accurate my of personal characteristics.

The original draft was strong because I analyzed the contents of my purse, wallet, and the notes I place in multiple locations to represent my need to be organized and prepared. The original draft was weak in the area of tense. I fluctuated between past tense and present tense throughout. I changed all the tenses to present, corrected spelling errors and eliminated unnecessary words. I deleted words which have similar meaning as other words within the same sentence. For example, in my original draft I wrote, “I opened it up to find that it was just another on of my "To-Do" lists; it consisted of some of my basic necessities I needed to purchase.” After revising that my blog, that sentence read “I open it up to find that it is just another one of my "To-Do" lists; it consists of some of my basic necessities I need to purchase.” Due to repeated practice in this course, editing and revising became a skill that I am stronger in and apply with more consistency.

Yeah, I probably should have revised my wallet blog too... Honestly, I just tried to forget about it.
In your introduction you mentioned that you prefer creative writing to analytic. I suppose it makes sense that you would improve the blog entry, then.
Me on the other hand.. I can do one or the other, and my "creative writing" (aka, going off topic and throwing around some wit) tends to yield worse grades.. Thus, I made a bee-line for my most analytic paper. Kinda funny how that happens..
